Dive into HTML5 by Mark Pilgrim
this is one of the most wonderful online resources, currently maintained by various people, kept online by the community in the absence of the original author, Mark Pilgrim.
If you do not know much about Mark or his withdrawal from online life, read these posts from Eric Meyer and on HTML5 Doctor.
In terms of books: the second edition of “Introducing HTML5″ by @brucel and @rem is out. An excellent read ;)
